My passion for ceramics began in the classrooms of the Art Institute of Florence, during Salvatore Cipolla’s lessons, where in 1980 I earned my diploma as a master ceramist. After specializing in Graphic Arts and gaining experience in the high-fashion leather goods sector, in 1985 I opened my studio in Barberino Val d’Elsa, dedicating myself to experimenting with the coil-building technique and creating entirely handmade ceramics.
The name Il Tafano is a tribute to my homeland and to the ancient noble Barberini family, who lived in Barberino Val d’Elsa, my hometown. Their coat of arms, in fact, featured three horseflies, and not far from the well-known “Tafania” estate I chose to open my workshop.
I create decorative ceramics for the home, such as lamps, centerpieces, mirror frames, soap holders, lanterns, and much more. Every piece is made entirely by hand using the ancient coil-building technique.
